Imagine this: high in the Andes Mountains of Peru, above the rest of the world, amidst the hazy peaks of the ancient Inca empire, dwell a people relatively unreached by the gospel. Enslaved by fear, that has been perpetuated by the principalities and rulers of darkness, they continue in every conceivable form of paganism, witchcraft, and idolatry, just as they have for centuries. However, the less than 1% of the regions population that are believers have been praying. It has been prophesied that a mighty move of the Holy Spirit will begin in Cuzco, Peru, the historic capital of the Inca world, and spark a revival that will spread the length of the Andean region of South America. This region extends from Colombia to Chile, with Cuzco, Peru at it's center. This is the place of our call.
We are Darrell, Betsy and Sarah Elliott. Having been missionaries previously in Guatemala, we are now excited about the new assignment the Lord has given us. Cuzco, meaning "navel" or "center," is nestled in the Andes Mountains at an altitude of approximately 11,000 feet. This Spanish-speaking city of more than 300,000 inhabitants serves as a hub for millions of the Inca descended Quechua indigenous people who live in the rural villages of the outlying region. For many of these indigenous people, Quechua is their primary or only language.
The Peruvian Assemblies of God national Church leadership have surveyed the needs of their country and have requested missionaries to come along side them to help meet these needs.
